Held as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, nationally coordinated by the National Commission on the Status of Women, Islamabad, the session was attended by employees of PPAF and its partner organizations, both in person and virtually, reflecting a strong commitment to fostering a safer and more inclusive digital environment.
Mr. Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building, led the session, focusing on the significance of recognizing and effectively addressing Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). He outlined the various forms of cyber harassment and online abuse that disproportionately affect women, emphasizing the need for early recognition and effective intervention. By including both male and female participants, the session underscored the importance of building a more aware and responsive community, capable of supporting survivors and fostering safer digital spaces.
Ms. Zaheema Iqbal, Assistant Director, Advisory & Communication, delivered a focused session on the role of emerging technologies in facilitating Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), with particular emphasis on the misuse of AI-generated content to harass, intimidate or silence women online. She also highlighted key cyber threats such as impersonation, cyberstalking, and image-based abuse, while outlining national reporting channels and referral mechanisms for timely support and redress.
The interactive training provided participants with practical insights to recognize risks, respond effectively, and promote safer digital spaces, including guidance on appropriate first-response actions and formal reporting procedures. National CERT remains committed to strengthening national cybersecurity capacity, promoting digital safety, and empowering women and girls through sustained awareness, collaboration and resilience-building initiatives across Pakistan.
