This engagement, organized in collaboration with Dukhetran-e-Pakistan, the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), brought together university students to address the growing concerns surrounding Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) and equip them with essential knowledge to navigate digital spaces safely.
The session was graced by the Minister of State, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, as the Chief Guest, underscoring the governmentโ€™s commitment to promoting digital safety, womenโ€™s empowerment, and cybersecurity awareness among youth.
Ms. Zaheema Iqbal, Assistant Director Advisory & Communications led the session with a focused emphasis on recognizing and effectively addressing various forms of cyber harassment and online abuse that disproportionately impact women. The training highlighted critical cyber threats including impersonation, cyberstalking, and image-based abuse, while also addressing the emerging challenge of AI-generated content being misused to harass, intimidate, or silence women online. Participants were informed about national reporting channels and referral mechanisms available for timely support and redress.
The session empowered female students with practical knowledge and tools to protect themselves in digital environments while fostering a supportive network among participants. This targeted approach is essential in building resilience among women and creating safer online spaces. National CERT remains committed to empowering communities through dedicated awareness programs and continuing its efforts to combat cyber threats while promoting digital safety across Pakistan.
