𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗦 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗨 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

𝗟𝗮𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) have formalized a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Pakistan’s cybersecurity framework. This collaboration highlights a shared vision to bridge academia and industry, fostering research, innovation, and talent development in the field of cybersecurity. The partnership aims to address pressing national and global cybersecurity challenges through collaborative research and innovative solutions.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both institutions, including senior leadership and cybersecurity experts. Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, Director General National CERT, and Prof. Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS, signed the agreement in the presence of Prof. Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost LUMS, along with other esteemed faculty members and officials.

This strategic alliance will focus on joint research and development to create innovative cybersecurity solutions tailored to national needs, with an emphasis on their practical application and commercialization. The partnership will also prioritize training and capacity-building for aspiring professionals through industry-aligned programs, certifications, internships, and mentorship opportunities. To build national cyber resilience, the two institutions will organize workshops, seminars, and hackathons at both national and international levels, fostering knowledge exchange between academia and industry.

Under the MoU, National CERT will deliver structured training programs and provide access to industry experts to equip LUMS researchers with essential cybersecurity skills. In parallel, LUMS will spearhead advanced research and development initiatives, leveraging its cutting-edge infrastructure and multidisciplinary expertise. Together, the two organizations aim to develop academic curricula and capstone projects with a strong focus on practical, real-world applications.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward creating a robust cybersecurity ecosystem. By aligning the strengths of academia and industry, the collaboration seeks to cultivate a highly skilled workforce capable of navigating the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
