𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗘𝗠𝗥𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻'𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿

𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 - The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), convened a high-level cybersecurity engagement session with representatives of Pakistan's electronic media industry at PEMRA Headquarters. The session was hosted by PEMRA and co-led by National CERT, PakSat, and the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Comission (SUPARCO), bringing together Chief Technical Officers, cybersecurity professionals, and technical representatives from satellite television broadcasters and distribution licensees.

The session formed part of a coordinated national effort to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of Pakistan's broadcasting ecosystem and ensure the resilience of critical media infrastructure against an evolving cyber threat landscape. Discussions focused on the security of satellite uplink infrastructure, mitigation of signal interference risks, protection of broadcast transmission channels, and the implementation of cybersecurity best practices across the sector.

During the engagement, participating organizations highlighted the importance of adopting a risk-based cybersecurity framework and institutionalizing cybersecurity governance within broadcasting organizations. Licensees were advised to undertake comprehensive third-party cybersecurity assessments and audits of their critical systems, establish Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities or adopt managed security monitoring services, appoint dedicated Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), and develop structured implementation roadmaps aligned with the timelines prescribed by PEMRA. These measures are aimed at enhancing the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and resilience of Pakistan's broadcasting infrastructure.

The session also emphasized the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding national digital infrastructure. National CERT shared strategic guidance on strengthening cyber preparedness, improving incident response capabilities, and fostering a proactive cybersecurity culture across the media sector. Technical experts from PakSat and SUPARCO contributed specialized perspectives on the security and resilience of satellite communication systems and space-enabled services supporting national broadcasting operations.

National CERT reaffirmed its commitment to working with PEMRA, PakSat, SUPARCO, and industry stakeholders to strengthen Pakistan’s broadcasting cybersecurity. Through information sharing, capacity building, and international standards, stakeholders aim to enhance resilience against emerging cyber threats and safeguard the integrity of electronic media services.
