The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan conducted a cybersecurity capacity building training session on โThe Fundamentals of Incident Responseโ for its officials at its headquarters. With a โWhole of Organization (WoO) Approach,โ the training aimed to enhance the understanding and preparedness of personnel working across other domains of cybersecurity, including IT, Data Center operations, and related technical domains, enabling them to develop foundational knowledge of cybersecurity incident management.
The session was attended by National CERT incumbents representing various directorates, reflecting the organizationโs commitment to strengthening cybersecurity awareness and operational readiness across all functional areas. By engaging staff from diverse domains, the initiative sought to promote a broader institutional understanding of incident response practices and the importance of coordinated and unified action during cybersecurity events.
The training was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Yousaf, Director CERT, who provided comprehensive insights into the core concepts and operational frameworks of incident response. Key topics included an introduction to the incident response lifecycle, internationally recognized incident response frameworks and standards, and incident response practices adopted by National CERT at the national level, highlighting the mechanisms and infrastructure for incident response coordination across the country and sharing practical experiences related to handling cybersecurity incidents at the national level.
Through such capacity building initiatives, National CERT continues to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of its workforce and reinforce its mission to safeguard Pakistanโs national cyberspace through knowledge sharing, preparedness, and continuous professional development.
