The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan successfully organized a specialized Penetration Testing training aligned with the Cyber Kill Chain methodology at its headquarters, aimed at strengthening national cyber defense capabilities. The workshop was attended by government officials from various ministries, sector regulators and their attached departments, along with officers from National CERT. The program was designed in line with the National CERT Training Guidelines to equip participants with an intensive, technically rigorous and practice driven learning experience, focusing on comprehensive, end-to-end understanding of real-world penetration testing methodologies and emphasizing hands-on execution across the full attack lifecycle, from threat identification and exploitation to remediation and mitigation of cybersecurity risks.
The training was delivered by Mr. Osama Nusair and Mr. Ali Taqi Wajid, both serving as National CERTโs Distinguished Trainers under the Distinguished Trainers Program (DTP). Drawing upon their extensive operational and training expertise, the trainers provided practical insights into adversarial tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), while demonstrating defensive strategies mapped to each phase of the Cyber Kill Chain framework. Through interactive sessions, technical demonstrations and scenario-based discussions, participants enhanced their understanding of proactive threat hunting, vulnerability exploitation pathways and incident response alignment with modern cyber threat landscapes.
National CERT remains committed to advancing national cyber resilience by nurturing technical excellence, inter-agency collaboration and capacity building across the public sector. Initiatives such as this workshop reflect our continued efforts to strengthen Pakistanโs cybersecurity posture through structured training and knowledge-sharing platforms.
