The event, titled "๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐ญ๐ฅ๐ก๐ค๐จ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐จ: ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐จ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐พ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐ช๐ข๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ค๐ก๐ค๐๐๐๐จ," focused on the increasing severity of supply chain attack threats and their ripple effect on countries' law and order situations, development of effective countermeasures, strategic partnerships, and capacity building for law enforcement agencies.
The roundtable was moderated by Air Commodore Raza Haider (Retd), Director of Emerging Technologies at CASS, and featured notable experts, including Dr. Fateh ud din B. Mehmood, CEO of Lunesys, who presented a detailed analysis of the historical use of consumer technology as a tool of hard-kill weaponry and its relevance in contemporary conflicts.
Dr. Haider Abbas brought forth key insights during the discussions, particularly on the security implications of weaponized consumer technologies in Pakistanโs context. He called for enhanced air travel security with advanced screening technologies to detect dangerous devices like communication gadgets and lithium batteries. He also advocated for strengthening Pakistanโs forensic and screening capabilities, underscoring the government's commitment to rigorous security audits for all procured technologies, which reflects Pakistan's growing capacity in indigenous cybersecurity measures. Additionally, Dr. Abbas urged stricter international regulatory measures to control the sale and use of emerging technologies, emphasizing regional cooperation to prevent their misuse in future conflicts.
Concluding the roundtable, Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed (Retd), President of CASS, remarked on the importance of addressing these emerging techno-security threats through collaborative global measures.
