𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗜𝗞𝗜 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻

𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶, 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗶 – Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, Director General of National CERT, participated as an expert panelist in the 19th International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET 2024), organized by the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI). This flagship IEEE conference brought together global researchers, academics, and industry professionals to discuss groundbreaking advancements in emerging technologies. Representing National CERT, Dr. Abbas emphasized the critical role of cybersecurity in driving technological innovation and safeguarding Pakistan’s digital ecosystems.

A highlight of the conference was the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between National CERT and GIKI, officiated by Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, and GIKI Rector, Prof. Dr. F. Ahmad Khalid, SI. This strategic partnership aims to enhance cybersecurity expertise through collaborative research and development initiatives, addressing both national and global cybersecurity challenges. By pooling resources, knowledge, and expertise, the agreement paves the way for advanced capacity building and pioneering research to meet the demands of an evolving digital landscape.

The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including joint R&D initiatives, capacity-building programs, cybersecurity training, access to advanced tools and labs, and services such as incident response and forensic investigation. It also underscores the significance of research in emerging technologies such as AI/ML-driven autonomous systems, fostering stronger academic-industry alignment to spur innovation. Furthermore, the partnership focuses on talent development through internships, workshops, and job placement programs, empowering students and professionals to excel in the cybersecurity domain.
