National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan actively participated in a five-day Cyber Capacity-Building and Policy Training Programme held in Islamabad. The programme was inaugurated by the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Ambassador Amna Baloch, and was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), with the support of Canadaโs Foreign PolicyโGlobal Affairs Canada, aiming to enhance national capacities to address evolving cyber threats and governance challenges in cyberspace.
The programme brought together policymakers, technical experts, and academics from key national institutions. It featured expert-led sessions, scenario-based discussions, and table-top exercises covering critical areas such as cyber threats, emerging technologies, cybercrime, incident response mechanisms, and international cooperation frameworks.
As the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony, Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, DG National CERT, highlighted the importance of national cyber resilience, effective incident response coordination, and multi-stakeholder and international collaboration in strengthening cybersecurity ecosystems. During the programme, he also contributed to key panel discussions, sharing strategic insights on cyber governance and capacity development. Director Labs Ms. Adeela Waqar and IS Auditor Mr. Khwaja Mansoor Ul Hassan represented National CERT throughout the five-day training programme, actively engaging in technical sessions and policy-focused discussions.
National CERT remains committed to advancing Pakistanโs cyber preparedness through active engagement in international capacity-building initiatives and policy dialogues, fostering resilient, secure, and cooperative cyberspace governance.
