It further emphasized empowering children with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the online world safely, strengthening cross-sector collaborations and charting clear pathways for sustained action, innovation and long-term cyber resilience.
Representing National CERT, Director Capacity Building Mr. Khurram Javed underscored the cybersecurity dimension of Child Online Protection (COP), stressing the need for strong technical safeguards, early-warning systems and rapid response capabilities across national institutions. He highlighted that while technology expands learning and social opportunities for children, it also introduces risks that can swiftly move from the digital realm to real life, making early cyber awareness essential. He emphasized educating children about online threats, understanding relevant laws and utilizing reporting mechanisms, while noting that a safe internet requires shared responsibility among parents, teachers, communities and institutions. National CERT, he affirmed, remains committed to translating awareness into meaningful, lasting protection.
A key highlight was the panel discussion titled โ€œPartnership to Protection: Building a Collective Response.โ€ Featuring representatives from NCRC, NCCIA, PTA, National CERT and the Ministry of Planning, the session focused on building an effective national referral mechanism for Child Online Protection. Speaking for National CERT, Mr. Khurram Javed highlighted the importance of interoperable reporting channels, multi-agency coordination and real-time information sharing to effectively address child-related cyber incidents.
National CERT reiterates its commitment to fostering a secure digital environment in Pakistan by continuing to develop cybersecurity capabilities, strengthening public-private partnerships, and empowering children and caregivers with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the online world safely.
