National CERT and PTA collaborate for the advancement of Cyber Secure Digital Pakistan Initiatives

A delegation from the National CERT of Pakistan paid a collaborative visit to the PTA headquarters in Islamabad. The National CERT delegation, led by Director General Dr. Haider Abbas, included Dr. Muhammad Yousaf, Director CERT, Dr. Mehreen Afzal, Director GRC, Mr. Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building, and Mr. Altaf ur Rehman, Director Labs.
The meeting was graced by PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman HI (M), who warmly welcomed the NCERT team and expressed wholehearted support for fostering diverse collaborative opportunities between the two organizations. Dr. Muhammad Mukaram Khan, DG Cyber Vigilance, led the team on a visit to the National Telecom Security Operations Center (ntSOC) and the National Telecom Computer Emergency Response Team (ntCERT), where Mr. Ahmed Bakht Masood, Director of Cyber Security, and Mr. Rafay Baloch, Senior Consultant for Cyber Security, provided insightful briefings on the structure and functioning of these entities at PTA HQ.
During the interaction, the NCERT team acknowledged and praised the efforts of PTA in safeguarding the critical telecom data and infrastructure of the country and thus significantly enhancing public trust in telecommunication and internet services provided by the country’s telecom sector. Both NCERT and PTA enthusiastically decided to join forces, pledging their support to achieve the shared objectives of cyber secure digital Pakistan initiatives. To facilitate this collaboration, a dedicated interface has been established to extend technical and operational cooperation between the two organizations.
The meeting concluded with a strong mutual commitment from both sides to collaborate closely in addressing the constantly evolving cyber threats at the national level. Working together, they are prepared to confront these challenges and ensure a secure digital environment for Pakistan.
