The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan held a comprehensive briefing session to apprise key stakeholders and constituents on the revised Pakistan Information Security Framework (PISF-2025). The session was chaired by the Director General, National CERT, Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, who delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the strategic significance of PISF-2025 in strengthening Pakistanโ€™s national cybersecurity posture, information security governance, and institutional resilience across the public and private sectors.

The briefing outlined the consultative journey of PISF-2025, highlighting that the draft framework was initially circulated in November 2025 among members of the CERT Council and relevant government stakeholders. In parallel, the draft was also made publicly available to ensure broad-based engagement with industry, academia, and cybersecurity professionals. This inclusive consultation process resulted in the receipt of 273 detailed comments from a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including CERT Council entities, federal ministries and attached departments, academic institutions, private enterprises, and independent subject-matter experts. All feedback was carefully reviewed and incorporated, leading to a thoroughly revised and strengthened framework.

A detailed presentation on the revised PISF-2025 was delivered by the Director GRC, Dr. Mehreen Afzal, who highlighted key improvements, structural refinements, and policy alignments introduced in response to stakeholder inputs. Participants were informed that the revised framework has been published on the official National CERT website at https://pkcert.gov.pk/grc-policies for final review. Stakeholders have been requested to submit their comments on the revised version by 6 February 2026, and were assured of National CERTโ€™s availability for continued engagement and discussion during this consultation period.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to seek clarifications and provide further observations. National CERT reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and consensus-driven policymaking. Following the close of the consultation window and incorporation of any final inputs, the final PISF-2025 document will be submitted by National CERT to the Government of Pakistan for approval by 13 February 2026, marking a key milestone in advancing the countryโ€™s national information security and cybersecurity governance framework.
