𝗜𝗧𝗨 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀

The National CERT is proud to announce that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has recognized Pakistan’s ongoing cybersecurity efforts by placing the country in Tier 1 as a ‘Role Model’ in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2024. This recognition reflects Pakistan’s consistent strides in enhancing its cybersecurity framework, particularly the efforts of the National CERT and its stakeholders, who have worked diligently to strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure. It also reflects the government's commitment to advancing cybersecurity capabilities. This recognition is a reminder of the work done so far and the continued challenges that lie ahead as Pakistan further develops its cybersecurity capabilities.

This year’s GCI report transitioned to a tier-based model, placing Pakistan in the Tier 1 'Role Model' category for Asia-Pacific, a reflection of National CERT and stakeholders' collective efforts. Pakistan's progress across five pillars—legal measures, technical strategies, organizational coordination, capacity building, and global cooperation—has bolstered its cybersecurity excellence.

This recognition is a testament to the collective work of the National CERT in key areas, including incident response, strengthening governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks, conducting cybersecurity audits and compliance checks, and promoting capacity building and technology infrastructure development.

While this recognition is an important milestone, it serves as a reminder that the journey toward stronger cybersecurity is ongoing. National CERT will continue to focus on improving and adapting to meet the challenges of the ever-changing digital world.
